Give Well.

Projects & Causes.

Creating a positive impact in our communities is the aim of Auckland Foundation.

We help match generous donors with resources to give to the projects and causes that need them.

Auckland Foundation has two main contestable granting rounds each year.

The Grassroots Giving Programme

Grassroots organisations play a crucial role in keeping our communities connected and thriving.

Through our Grassroots Giving programme, Auckland Foundation has developed a unique knowledge base of the small, often out-of-sight groups that make communities hum. Our donors’ focus in this funding area is to support families and social services.

In 2016, Auckland Foundation made grants under the Grassroots Giving programme totalling $318,373.00, to 41 organisations.

The grants were spread across 5 regions including South, Central/East, West, North and a regional category for organisations that work right across Auckland.

Each year we receive a broad range of applications from many great organisations, all working hard to support the diverse needs of communities in Auckland.

Our 2017 granting round opened on 1 May and closes on 1 June 2017.

Before Applying

Our donor for the Grassroots Giving Programme is The Tindall Foundation and they also work with appointed Faith Funding Managers across NZ.

If your organisation is faith-based, please check with one of the following Faith Funding Managers first before applying to the Grassroots Giving Programme. Contact details can be found in our Guidance Notes.

  4. Budgeting
  5. Maori
  6. Migrant, refugee and cross-cultural
  7. Housing

Priority will be given to organisations working in the heart of the community using support from volunteers, rather than large well-funded service providers.

Funding will support communities across the Auckland region – from Rodney (Wellsford south) to Franklin (Pokeno north). This includes Auckland City, North Shore City, Manukau City, Waitakere City, Papakura, Waiheke and the Gulf Islands.

Auckland Airport Community Trust

Auckland Foundation is proud to manage the Auckland Airport Community Trust. The Trust believes strongly that learning is at the heart of success for communities and as such distributes grants to support learning, literacy and life skills.

The Trust also provides financial assistance to help with the installation of a noise mitigation package to some homes that fall within the Annual Aircraft Noise Contours moderate aircraft noise area.

These grants are awarded to support the communities living within current and projected noise-affected areas in the vicinity of Auckland Airport.

This includes parts of Papatoetoe, Whitford, Flat Bush, Manukau Central, Clover Park, Wiri, Otara, and Mangere. Read more about the Trust’s Area of Benefit.

The Trust has now distributed more than $3 million in community grants across these areas.
