Why the Women's Fund?

I believe that baby steps lead to giant leaps. The Women's Fund provides vital support to grassroots initiatives that are so vital to nourish the giant leaps of tomorrow for our whānau and communities across Aotearoa.

How or where do you see the Women's Fund making a difference?

The Women's Fund makes a difference for female-led initiatives where the impact is seen by the eyes and felt by the hearts of those in the communities being supported and served. I believe that the grantees are magicians in magnifying the impact they can have through the grant they receive from the Women's Fund.

Who is your biggest female role model/inspiration and why?

I am inspired by the strong powerhouse women who were the backbone of my streets and my family in the UK. I grew up not really understanding the sacrifice my own mother was making so that I could believe in a world of possibilities, rather than harsh realities. Whilst I don't wish a world of sacrifice on any mother, I am inspired by her grit, tenacity, and belief in a better world that she could feel existed for me if we just kept taking one step.

Finish this sentence: "In 10 years’ time, I want women and girls in New Zealand to..."

“…be able to embrace themselves fully and show up in the world without the need for apology or justification.”
