LawTalk: Bequests and Community Foundations.

With New Zealanders giving around $2.8 billion annually to charitable and community causes, the October issue of LawTalk magazine includes an in-depth look at bequests.

Geoff Adlam's article discusses the Include a Charity campaign to increase charitable giving by bequests, and the growing number of laywers involved with community foundations as an alternative to registered charities.

A partner in Tauranga firm Holland Beckett Law, Bill Holland's article advocates for community foundations as a strategic way for lawyers to help clients who want to give back:

"If you are not familiar with your local Community Foundation already, I suggest that you get in touch. They are a powerful connector of generosity to local causes and, as a lawyer, your role in the process is key."
