Auckland Foundation holds first Philanthropy Seminar.

Auckland Foundation held its first Philanthropy Seminar on Tuesday 13 August.

The full-to-capacity event, which was held at The Northern Club, saw business and community leaders, fund managers, professional advisors and high-profile Kiwis - including former Prime Minister Helen Clark - hear from Sir Stephen Tindall and John Hynds ONZM about the importance of giving back, and their own philanthropic journey.

CEO Mark Longbottom says Sir Stephen and John, both of whom are supporters of Auckland Foundation, are playing an important role in empowering the next generation of business leaders who want to make an impact of their own.

"The wealth of New Zealanders of high net-worth is growing, and with that, so is their power to make a difference to our country, cities and communities."

"Getting generous Kiwis to talk about their generosity is often a challenge, as a nation we don’t tend to want to put their hands up and say: ‘look at what I’ve achieved’. We've been lucky to work with both Stephen and John and watch what they've achieved in our communities, and we're also grateful they're willing to share their stories."

"The more we talk about it, the more we can tap into the potential for even more giving by those with wealth."
