Why the Women's Fund?

The short answer – a friend who is involved with Auckland Foundation recommended it. The longer answer – because I support any initiative that channels funds towards empowering the next generation of women in New Zealand.

How or where do you see the Women's Fund making a difference?

I think it will provide much needed support for girls and women with a potential which is currently constrained - by lack of money or other inhibitors like familial support, education opportunities, positive female role models, or just by limited horizons.

Who is your biggest female role model/inspiration and why?

Other than my Mum (of course), I would say JK Rowling. She definitely did it tough, but kept going and didn't give up. Now she's very involved in women's rights and looking after others that can't look after themselves – she didn't turn her back on those in need, like so many successful people have. Plus she is so talented!

Finish this sentence: "In 10 years' time, I want women and girls in New Zealand to…"

"...take gender equity in all walks of life for granted. I want them to look at gender inequality as some weird historical anachronism - similar to how we now view women not being able to vote."
