Auckland Foundation Dinner Event

In July 2023, Auckland Foundation brought together our community at The Northern Club for an evening of celebration.

The event was a wonderful reflection of what Auckland Foundation has achieved so far and what our plans are for the future. The energy in the room was a brilliant show of the desire and commitment from generous Aucklanders to make a significant positive difference to supporting communities and causes across Tāmaki Makaurau.

Auckland Foundation Chair Ian Short gave a fantastic speech. Below is an excerpt:

"Most with a philanthropic desire to give don’t have a huge amount of time to establish philanthropic giving, whether that is setting up a new charity or just doing the homework required before and after a sizeable donation. Making it easy to give back via the community foundation model is a complete game changer.

Aotearoa has the second highest number of charities per capita in the world, after the US. We are pretty good at deciding to create something new rather than finding something existing to support... The main benefit that donors get from giving through Auckland Foundation is that you can direct where the money goes while not having to deal with all the necessary governance, compliance, reporting and administration for grant making. Easy, efficient and flexible giving."

A special thanks to our fantastic speakers, former Prime Minister and Auckland Foundation Ambassador, Rt. Hon. Helen Clark, and our Chair Ian Short. Also to Trustee, Jack Bourke (pictured above) for his amazing Karakia. On top of our wonderful ambassadors and Board, key guests that attended the event included Auckland Mayor Wayne Brown and Deputy Mayor Desley Simpson.

Thank you to all of our wonderful guests for your attendance and your commitment to supporting our region and our communities be strong and thriving.
